Audrey Faye Hendricks was just 9-years-old in 1963 when Martin Luther King asked the people of Birmingham to “fill the jails.” Audrey was “the youngest marcher” in the Children’s March, joining 3,000 other children in prison.
Illustrator Vanessa Brantley Newton and Curious City are celebrating Audrey during Women’s History Month by giving away 10 signed prints from the acclaimed picture book The Youngest Marcher by Cynthia Levinson (Atheneum Books for Young Readers).
